Hi there! My name is Shope Jimoh, and I am a Clinician-in-Training (CIT) at Holistically Divine Counseling. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical psychology at Benedictine University. I value dignity, compassion, and respect for the whole person. I believe every individual is made in the image of God and deserves care, patience, and support to heal and grow. I view people as resilient, complex, and capable of change, even when they may not yet recognize their own strengths or potential. My mission in counseling is person-focused, walking alongside clients as they discover their own strengths and build toward a healthier version of themselves. Faith shapes how I understand human worth and purpose, and I aim to integrate spiritually respectfully when it aligns with a client’s values.
My counseling approach is integrative and flexible, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and client- or child-centered models. I also incorporate expressive techniques, such as art and play therapy, to help younger clients communicate and process experiences. I am grateful to work with children and adolescents around behavioral concerns, neurodevelopmental differences, trauma, and racial identity or cultural experiences, creating a space that honors each child’s unique story and strengths.
One of my favorite verses is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” This verse reflects my belief that counseling can help individuals reconnect with hope, recognize their strengths, and move forward with confidence. Through a supportive relationship, counseling provides space for healing, self-understanding, and meaningful change.
