Establishing Your Identity

In my field, I have the blessing to work with so many unique individuals. I have learned throughout my years of experience that I have a special place in my heart working with women, specifically women focused on establishing their identity. I’m honored that my clients have allowed me to come alongside to accompany them through this journey. What I have found to be my source in establishing, understanding, and owning my identity is found in Psalms 139: 13 -15: “For You formed my innermost parts; You knit me [together] in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was being formed in secret, and intricately and skillfully formed [ as if embroidered with many colors] in the depths of the earth.

When I accompany women throughout this journey, at the beginning I explore what type of inner dialogue they have within themselves. Inviting women to share what information they tell themselves is a method to understand what they use to reassure them of their own identity.

As I listen, I recognize the disconnect between my clients internal dialogue and the above scripture. With this awareness I am able to invite my clients into a space of awareness. Which allows each client I work with to understand the way in which they were fearfully and wonderfully made; that they were knitted together intentionally and purposefully to be an impact on this world. I am reminded of Ephesians 2:10 – For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art].

How often do you look in the mirror and say to yourself “I am His own master work, a work of art? My value is to assist humans in establishing a healthy identity challenging individuals to believe in what is true.

What truths do you tell yourself? Plan your week by committing to dismantling the lies you’ve believed.
