Mind Centered
When I was younger my mama would tell me our home is our sanctuary – peace is our every day goal. When we leave our home, as soon as we step outside, we have to manage this stressful world. Lets not have our home mirror the outside world.“Through [skillful and godly] wisdom a house [a life, a home, a family] is built, And by understanding it is established [on a sound and good foundation],” Proverbs 24:3 AMP. I understood at a young age that the stressors of a single, black woman with child are challenging and can be brutal if allowed. I grew up desiring a healthy home opposite of my understanding of the outside world. I’m grateful for her lesson of putting a substantial amount of energy into maintaining a peaceful home!
I’ve recognized, and value on a deeper level, the necessity of centering my mind before leaving my house. I am reminded when I wake up to “Put on the full armor of God [for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily-armed soldier], so that you may be able to [successfully] stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil.” – Ephesians 6:11
I read scriptures, motivational quotes, and pray for a centered mind. Centered in the belief that my day will be fulfilled with joy, peace, and love. Centered in the understanding of how loved I am. Centered in the belief that I’m here to show love to others. Which allows my mind to be clear; body to be relaxed; soul to be full; spirit to give love.
Before you get out of bed or leave your home, what ways do you center your mind, body, soul or spirit?
